![]() And it's nice having 2 DHCP public IP's to tinker with. I've had several speedtests up to 70 upload with the new router. One reason is because the next upgrade for Spectrum would cost me an additional $60 and though that would give me 1 Gig download, the upload is only 30, and that's only +10 from what I currently have. I don't want to bore w/technical details, but I've decided to keep the $50/mo "backup" solution. I also created a wifi network that I can connect to anywhere and it will use the T-Mobile trashcan network instead of the Spectrum network when WAN1 is working. To my surprise, it worked! I unplugged my Spectrum WAN and the trashcan failover worked without issue. I then created a VLAN ONLY port on the main router (Unifi UDM Pro) and plugged in a network cable from that port to WAN2, which was already configured to use the older T-Mobile router as a backup WAN. I was able to add the trashcan router to my main network by creating a VLAN ONLY network and making the switch port it plugs into in the front of the house a VLAN ONLY port. I'm not an networking expert, but I love experimenting. I mentally struggled to find a solution to add the router to my main network. I connected my Chromecast w/Android TV and had no issues with streaming services, including Youtube TV, HBO Max, Prime, IPTV services, etc. I started receiving 100+ download and 30-60+ upload speeds. I started placing the new router in different locations, and ended up being impressed with the speeds when near windows either in the front or rear of my 2nd story long residence. if I was mainly going to use it as a backup. 40/20 average speeds were an improvement, but not worth the $50/month, esp. I received the trash can about a week ago, and originally, I wasn't happy with the connection speeds when placed near my main router. Rep placed the order and unit shipped the next day and received in about 6 days. ![]() I called to inquire about the shipment - order was NOT placed, but my account was on hold. ![]() Spectrum went out for the first time in at least a year for a full day 3 weeks after canceling. I was talked into trying out their new 5G Router and put my account on a temp hold for $10 per month. I decided to return the box to save $50/mo, plus, my Spectrum connection RARELY went out. Average speed tests were about 20/3, though sometimes I'd get about 40/10. I wasn't happy with the speeds, nor connection signal. I am in a large major city, a couple of blocks off a major intersection. Currently happy with 400/20 Spectrum speeds, but love to tinker w/gadgets, so I ordered the the Home service about 4 months ago just to test as a backup internet solution. ![]()
